what is a Mitra?

There's going to be a `What is a Mitra?' morning at the Brighton buddhist Centre with Jnanottara and Padmavajri on 28 July 10.30 - 1.30pm.If you know of anyone in your group considering becoming a Mitra please mention this date to them and encourage them to come on it. It would be helpful if they read the Becoming a Mitra booklet (black shiny cover) in advance. There will be short talks on the morning by Mitras and a chance to ask questions.See More

Regular fortnightly meetings in Hastings Old Town

We meet in Hastings Old Town from 7 to 9 pm every Thursday evening at 80 High Street, TN34 3EL

(As the meditation takes place on the first floor, we regret that there is no convenient disabled access).

We alternate two programmes every other Thursday. One week we we start with a 45 minute body relaxation and meditation. Usually either Mindfulness of Breathing or the Metta Bhavana (practice of loving kindness), followed by tea, biscuits and a discussion based on a Dharma text that we are studying. We are currently reading "Buddhism: tools for living your life"  (more details are given in STUDY BOOKS AND WEBSITES below.)

The second week is more devotional and aimed at those with some experience of meditation.

Suggested donation per session, £3 -£5
